Me: Uhhhmm... err... that's a...I mean, well... um, that's a complicated question.
Cheese Dude stammers but doesn't say anything.
Me: It's just that, um..
Cheese Dude: Are you lactose intolerant?
Me: Yeah! Yes. It hurts my stomach.
[I talk for nearly 10 minutes about lactase-phlorizin hydrolase, the enzyme enabling digestion of lactose.]
Cheese Dude: Right. So, I guess you don't want the cheese sliced? Our machine has been in contact with lactose.
